'FirstLight Home Care' offers high quality care services. Both Monique and Eric are a power-house, who go beyond and above to assist their patients. What is particularly wonderful about their service is the timely response to any request. On several occasions, we requested accommodations outside office hours and they didn't hesitate to assist. Our experience with FirstLight Home Care of Halton has been nothing short of exceptional. From the very first conversation, we felt heard, supported and truly cared for. The team took the time to understand our family's needs and matched us with caregivers who were not only professional, but kind and compassionate. Our family can highly recommend First Light Home Care.  They have been so easy to work with as far as scheduling and trying to find the "right fit" for my Mom.  Tashauna has been working very hard to gain the trust of my Mom.  Eric has the patience of a saint as we try and schedule visits with my Mom who doesn't want anyone there.  If you have a difficult senior that needs help but doesn't want it, First Light would be my #1 choice to go to for help. During one of the most difficult periods our family was faced with, FirstLight Home Care of Halton provided compassionate and dignified palliative support. Their caregivers showed incredible empathy, patience and respect, not only to our father but to our entire family. They helped create calm, comfort and reassurance when we needed it most. We hired FirstLight Home Care of Halton for nanny support during a busy time in our lives and the experience has been nothing short of outstanding. From the very first phone call with Eric, I knew we were in good  hands. He was patient, understanding and genuinely interested in learning about our family’s needs and routines. The following day, Monique visited our home for an in-person consultation, which really set FirstLight apart. She took the time to meet our child, learn our daily schedule and assess our home environment to ensure the right caregiver fit. That personal touch gave us immediate peace of mind.

The nanny they matched us with has been incredible. She is reliable, nurturing and truly professional. From day one, she connected with our toddler through play and learning activities while keeping to the structure we had in place. She is punctual, communicates clearly and provides thoughtful updates throughout the day, including how naps, meals and moods are going. That ongoing communication has been a huge relief, especially for working parents like us.

We were also impressed by FirstLight’s commitment to safety and training. Our nanny was fully screened, with up-to-date first aid and CPR certification and clearly had real childcare experience. There was one occasion when our little one was not feeling well and the nanny handled it calmly and responsibly. She followed our care plan perfectly, notified us right away and documented everything clearly. It is moments like that where you realize how much trust matters.

The entire process, from onboarding to scheduling and billing, has been seamless. The follow up calls from the office showed how much they care about maintaining quality and satisfaction.

Overall, FirstLight Home Care of Halton exceeded every expectation. Eric and Monique lead with genuine compassion and professionalism and their  team has given us something truly invaluable: peace of mind, consistency and a caregiver who feels like family. To say that FirstLight Home Care of Halton is a lifesaver, would be an understatement!
I have been a caregiver for my bedridden mom for over 3yrs. She was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia last year after being admitted for a UTI.
Our PSW journey began 4yrs ago after my mom had hip surgery. We were assigned PSW's from Bayshore and it was disastrous! They sent employees who showed up with 1" fake nails and basically refused to change my mom. That was only one example of the lacking compassion offered by Bayshore. We got to the point where my mom was so stressed in anticipation of their 15min diaper change visits (which we ended up not utilizing regularly), that we had to cancel service faster than we got it. Granted, there was one really good PSW, but her availability was not promised.
The next agency was a disgrace, but as it was a recent experience, I will keep them nameless. Aside from one of the senior PSW's who was great, our experience with this agency was horrendous. The final straw was when a PSW physically hurt my mom during a diaper change. There were many negative occurrences, but that's not what this review is about.
Now for the saving grace of home care agencies...FirstLight! They were referred to me by a family friend and I was immediately impressed during my initial telephone conversation with Eric Ghaly (Territory Director). He was so kind, understanding and compassionate. He could feel how distraught I was and assured me that he would do his best to help alleviate my workload by providing the best care possible for my mom.
My first meeting was with the agency's other Territory Director, Monique. What a lovely and inviting individual. Monique was attentive and genuinely wanted to know what assistance I needed along with my mom. She didn't rush our visit at all. Monique was very knowledgable and helped soothe my worry. She surveyed our situation and assured me that if I wasn't satisfied with the assigned PSW, they would gladly send an alternate until we found the perfect fit. She even promised to be there for our first visit and I felt so relieved (I may have cried a little). Side note - I realize that my review is quite extensive, but FirstLight deserves to be recognized as the best in the field home care.
I can honestly say that Eric and Monique are people of their word. On the first day, the PSW who came to visit was very nice and friendly, but I knew she wasn't the right match for my mom (not for any particular reason other than her experience). I shared my thoughts with both Eric and Monique and they came through the following day. The next PSW that was assigned to care for my mom was perfect and the connection was immediate. Rupinder was professional, accommodating, proficient, clean, enthusiastic, resourceful, respectful, attentive and so much more.
On a business level, Eric and Monique communicated with me regularly and reviewed all required documentation and our service agreement with me. They were available to answer any of my inquiries at the drop of a dime and never hesitated to explain things in a way I would understand. They made this entire process seamless and it was truly endearing to have them personally visit and check in on my mom and I.

The entire experience has helped reaffirm that there are people who care about our suffering elderly and their caregivers.

Thank you Eric and Monique for saving me from caregiver burnout and providing a service that treats your clients the way you would your own family!

The staff at FirstLight are the most caring and compassionate people I have ever met. All the PSWs showed respect and were diligent in keeping our friend safe and well taken care of. In particular, I'd like to mention Rupinder and Dipali who went above and beyond to ensure that care and dignity was their priority. They were always dependable and professional and kept us informed of the needs of our friend.

We were faced with an in home care emergency and Eric and Monique from FirstLight Home Care were able to help us with a same day response. I contacted Eric mid afternoon and by 6pm all of the paperwork was done via email and a PSW booked in to be with my Mom from 10pm to 2am. Kiranpreet showed up on time and was lovely and very capable. My Mom was essentially immobile with an undiagnosed condition but Kiranpreet was able to help her with compassion.  Eric was very communicative  and followed up via text and email. Even though this was an emergency situation for us First Light Home Care charged us the standard rate for care and did not take advantage of the stressful situation. We decided to bring in private care services for our mom who lives in a facility and we’re so glad we went with FirstLight Home Care of Halton. From the start the team was caring, professional, and really listened to what we needed. Monique and Eric were especially amazing. They were kind, helpful, and always there when we had questions or concerns. Their support made a tough time a lot easier. Our mom received such thoughtful care and we’re really thankful. Would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for extra help for a loved one.
